New Feature: Drop Down Menu
Internet Business Box
As testing results come in from the Internet Business Box sites, we are constantly shamed into realizing that all this has happened before and all this will happen again.
There are thousands of sites on the Internet that do constant and never-ending testing. Whenever new results come in from our own testing, we often slap our head and say... "dang it; we already knew that... _________ does that."
What is the blank filled in with?
Primarily three famous Internet sites. Let me introduce them to you.
ProFlowers.com
This site has the highest conversion rate on the entire Internet according to several sources. They boast converting 30% of visitors into buyers. They constantly test EVERYTHING. You can see the evidence of that by viewing their source code. Lot's of things are tagged with split test identifiers.
Amazon.com
This company owes it's success almost entirely to testing. They were in the negative for years and they faithfully tested everything about selling books on the Internet. Now they sell everything profitably using those test results. BTW, ProFlowers.com is now doing the same. There are about a dozen sites using their platform listed at the bottom of their site.
Walmart.com
Read some of the books about Walmart and you will quickly figure out that they are actually a data mining and testing company. They owe their entire success to constantly testing everything with the goal of cutting costs and passing most of those cost cutting test results along to the customer.
When we have a new revelation as the result of testing, we usually notice that one (or usually all three) of the above sites are already doing what we just learned from a new test result.
That was true with the "simple text logo" results we recently published.
And now it is true with another test result. This new test result runs counter to what the famous "sales letter" copywriters preach as one of their most sacred doctrines.
The test result shows that having a menu navigation bar at the top of the page increases conversion rate dramatically.
The "sales letter" copywriting crowd preaches the doctrine of "non-distraction" and claims that you should never distract your prospect with any kind of link. They would be horrified by a drop down menu.
However, all three of the above sites which represent three of the most successful online businesses on the entire Internet use either drop down or pop out menus at the top of the page or along the left side of the page.
We tested it and found that it dramatically increases conversions site-wide.
We are now emulating the highest converting of those three sites with a drop-down menu on every Internet Business Box powered site.
It looks nice; doesn't it?
